loaded one of the first trucks of relief supplies to
go acorss the Iraq border on March 16, with 20 tons of Water/Food/Medical
Supplies, which was featured on CNN on March 16 with Rhim
Brahimi.
In
addition, the Thuraya Satellite Telephone Company donated
10 Thuraya satellite telephones and 2,000 minutes of time
so we could have people come for a one minute telephone
call to their family to let them know they were alive.
To
date we have done approximately 1,400 of these. The water
was donated by HCI International - Human Concern International
- and we delivered the water to Hospitals, to the slum area
of Baghdad and to individuals, and continue to do so and
another truck.
In
addition, we brought in nearly 500 letters which we delivered
and facilitated the telephone system and mail system of
Iraq, and are doing many who call to give messages to their
families.

Update
April 15, 2003
Assyrianchristians.com
has sent trucks with medical supplies, food, water and
letters for family members leaving Amman shortly.
Due to the high security and extreme danger of the over-the-border
situation we are keeping the exact time and date of the
shipment confidential but all the paperwork has been completed,
visas and other permissions and supplies have been received
and we are proceeding. The supplies will be given out as
needed through a previously set up distribution network.
We
have three teams currently going - one we we have staff
working in the Refugee Camp on the Iraq/Jordan Border, another
working in Amman coordinating an assisting with Jordan relief
efforts and the Baghdad Team which is preparting ot cross
the border and re-establish our offices in Baghdad.
We would appreciate prayer and support for the ongoing
project estimated to last about 6 months. During the Gulf
War we had a similar project and were on the ground for
one year.
In particular it is our most current informaton that the
major areas of bombing in Baghdad appears to be in the Christian
areas, so a big part of our work will be locating family
members and confirming their safety as communiatioins have
completely broken down.
Of
particular significance is a large number of letters
from family members we will be taking in to Iraq to
distribute to family members to confirm their safety. One
of the major problems in Iraq is the inability to call or
mail to confirm the situation of family members within the
country.
If
you have a relatives in Iraq, please provide us information
and we will do our best to trace your family members. During
the Kobe, Japan Earthquake, we did so for nearly 3,000 people,
and following the 9/11 tragedy we processed 1,000 requests
of Japanese relatives seeking to locate family and friends
in New York City.
Anyone
with family of friends in Iraq can send a note to Assyrianchristians.com
with the name of the family member, address, directions
and message to convey and we will do our best to deliver
the message and confirm the safety of the family members.
Please be sure to include a telephone number so you can
be contacted.
